Our Team of loving and hard-working humans specializes in exercising and socializing canine companions so that they can be as happy, healthy and well-adjusted as possible. We joyfully operate out of Winter’s home near Lake Temescal in Oakland, CA. This means our canine clients enjoy home-away-from-home experiences like hanging in the kitchen while our Team makes lunch, or cuddling in front of the fireplace and listening to music during rest time, socializing in the front yard while neighbors walk by or romping in the backyard with a bestie.

At Family Dog Walkers, we take pride in offering exceptional, personalized care. Here’s what sets us apart:

• There is little turnover on our Team because job satisfaction and care for one another’s well being is a top priority. As is everyone earning a living wage, paid-time-off and stipends for phone and car use.

• We communicate regularly with each canine client’s family to see how we can better support their canine companion’s needs (including enrichment, behavior, engagement, health, etc).

• The size of our daycare groups are kept small (no more than 10 at any given time). On-leash walking groups are as well (2-4) and off-leash hiking groups never exceed the permitted commercial dog walking limit (6).

• We maintain a low dog-to-human ratio during daycare, averaging 3.5 dogs per staff member, ensuring each dog receives personalized attention, enrichment, and care throughout the day.

• Only canine clients that participate in weekly day care and/or off leash hikes are allowed to board.

• We are rated 5 stars on Yelp and regularly post cheerful pictures and videos on Facebook and Instagram, including an annual video featuring each canine client and honoring their “Special Day”.

• We are licensed by the City of Oakland, permitted by the East Bay Regional Park District and bonded / insured by Pet Sitters Associates

• Our canine clients have registered licenses and maintain current vaccinations for Bordetella, Leptospirosis, Rabies, and core vaccines such as DAPP, DHPP, DHLPP

• We utilize a spacious backyard with locked side gates, two heated indoor dog-friendly hang areas in addition to the comfy main house. The property is monitored by several outdoor Nest cameras.

• Owner Winter and Operations Manager Mia are dog*biz Dog Walking Academy graduates who have been trained in dog behavior, learning theory, walking techniques, and dog first aid.
